Turmeric Powder Recipes
Turmeric powder is a versatile spice that can be used in beverages, curries, rice dishes, snacks, and health foods.
1. Golden Turmeric Milk
Ingredients
- Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
- Milk – 250 ml
- Palm jaggery or honey – 1 tsp
- Black pepper powder – a pinch
Method
- Heat milk until warm.
- Add turmeric and black pepper.
- Stir well for 2–3 minutes.
- Add palm jaggery or honey and serve.
2. Turmeric Herbal Drink
Ingredients
- Water – 250 ml
- Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
- Lemon juice – 1 tsp
- Palm jaggery – 1 tsp
Method
- Boil water and add turmeric.
- Simmer for 2 minutes.
- Add palm jaggery.
- Cool slightly and add lemon juice.
3. Turmeric Rice
Ingredients
- Cooked rice – 2 cups
- Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
- Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
- Curry leaves – few
- Peanuts – 2 tbsp
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Salt – to taste
Method
- Heat oil and add mustard seeds.
- Add peanuts and curry leaves.
- Mix in turmeric powder.
- Add rice and salt.
- Toss gently and serve.
4. Turmeric Vegetable Curry
Ingredients
- Mixed vegetables – 250 g
- Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
- Chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Oil – 1 tbsp
Method
- Sauté vegetables in oil.
- Add turmeric, chilli powder, and salt.
- Cook until vegetables are tender.
- Serve with rice or chapati.
5. Turmeric Dosa
Ingredients
- Dosa batter – 2 cups
- Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
- Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
Method
- Mix turmeric and cumin into dosa batter.
- Prepare dosas on a hot tawa.
- Serve with chutney.
6. Turmeric Chapati
Ingredients
- Wheat flour – 2 cups
- Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
- Salt – ½ tsp
- Water – as required
Method
- Mix flour, turmeric, and salt.
- Knead into a soft dough.
- Roll and cook chapatis on a tawa.
7. Turmeric Soup
Ingredients
- Onion – 1 chopped
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
- Water or vegetable stock – 500 ml
- Pepper powder – ½ tsp
- Salt – to taste
Method
- Sauté onion and garlic.
- Add turmeric and stock.
- Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add pepper and salt.
- Serve hot.
8. Turmeric Millet Upma
Ingredients
- Millet vermicelli or millet rava – 1 cup
- Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
- Onion – 1 chopped
- Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
- Curry leaves – few
- Water – 2 cups
Method
- Prepare tempering.
- Add onion and sauté.
- Add water and turmeric.
- Add millet vermicelli/rava and cook until done.
9. Turmeric Pickle Mix
Ingredients
- Grated carrot – 1 cup
- Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
- Lemon juice – 2 tbsp
- Salt – ½ tsp
Method
- Mix all ingredients together.
- Rest for 30 minutes.
- Serve as an instant pickle.
10. Turmeric Energy Balls
Ingredients
- Dates – 1 cup
- Almonds – ½ cup
- Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
- Sesame seeds – 2 tbsp
Method
- Blend all ingredients.
- Shape into small balls.
